Mojave Desert StudioHomestead Valley, CA
Land imagined through light: my paintings reflect the desert’s dramatic forms and shifting moods, infused with the quiet intensity of time settled into the terrain. Color, shadow, and tone are in constant flux, layering memory over geology, sky over stone.
The desert transforms endlessly, and in each painting, layered impressions hold the weight and rhythm of collected time. Rooted in the spirit of the Fauves, my painting embraces bold, instinctive color as a means of shifting the boundaries between observation and imagination.
Landforms are suggested rather than described, blurring the line between the seen and the felt. Each painting evokes the desert’s sensory imprint, holding its fleeting light and vast expanse within a landscape both real and reimagined.
